Council needs to lead the way in cutting all non-essential expenditure. Council has directed the Chief Executive to find all possible ways of cutting non – essential expenditure. This position seems to be non – essential.
Detail is not given of remuneration, but at minimum wage of $13.50 per hour for one eight hour day per week on average, this equates to a saving of $5616 per annum or $7020 for the remaining 15 months of the term of office.
A roster of existing secretarial staff could be used to make tea and coffee and clean up after meetings.
