About WorkBoot

The WorkBoot Councillor is Otamatea Ward Councillor Jonathan Larsen.

Jonathan was motivated to start "The WorkBoot Councillor" website by a desire for better communication with ratepayers on decisions being made by Council, greater Council transparency, and to engage with ratepayers and encourage debate and discussion via the "Boot Forums".

"Council's website states - 'The Council recognises that its first responsibility is to the people of the district. We are a service provider to the community. Council will, in partnership with the community, facilitate, plan and encourage growth.' said Jonathan. "It's time we started walking the talk"

Jonathan grew up on the family farm at Topuni, just south of Kaiwaka, and went to school at Kaiwaka and Otamatea High. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Massey University, and is a qualifed Resource Management Act Commissioner.

When not engaged in Council business, Jonathan works as a professional firefighter, and is also involved in plantation forestry, and farming.
